In-Hospital Outcome of Stroke at a Divisional Hospital of Pakistan

Background: Stroke having two major types, is a clinical presentation which presents loss of brain function; risk factors & complications may vary and ultimately can lead to death Objective: To determine stroke outcome its association with complications. Methods: Observational cross-sectional study, conducted from Nov 2015 Aug 2016 at DHQ Teaching Hospital, KMU Institute Medical Sciences, Kohat. A pre-designed questionnaire was adopted for data extraction. SPSS 25.0 used; descriptive inferential statistics were applied where needed Results: From 100 patients, male 54% mean age 67.48±13.77 years, 88% Ischemic patients. Hypertension (79%) family history (39%) while constipation (59%) aspiration pneumonia (44%) in-hospital mortality 10%. The had higher Prevalence Ratio (PR) drug abuse (1.330), hypercholesterolemia (1.166), hypertension (1.036) in ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic PR high (1.918), heart diseases (1.173) sedentary lifestyle (1.030).
